This SEMH tutor role could be a perfect match if you have experience supporting children and young people with additional needs and are seeking flexible work.

As an SEMH tutor, your duties would include:

  • Assisting children with special educational needs, particularly those facing Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges, through face-to-face support.
  • Developing tailored resources to meet each child's needs, focusing on subjects like Maths and English, potentially incorporating interactive and personalised learning methods.
  • Engaging children in activities and ensuring they can access the learning materials effectively.
  • Implementing various behavior management strategies to address challenging behaviours.

The tutoring location would vary depending on the pupil's requirements, with arrangements made in advance. However, all pupils for this role will be based in the Nottinghamshire area, benefiting from extensive transportation links.

Qualifications we seek in an SEMH tutor:

  • Previous SEN experience, whether as a teaching assistant, in one-on-one support, or similar roles.
  • Ability to plan and deliver engaging lessons.
  • Skills in helping pupils catch up with their education.
  • Ability to monitor pupil progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Desirable: Experience working with children displaying challenging behaviours.

All applicants must undergo background checks and hold a current DBS certificate (registered with the update service), with assistance provided by Teaching Personnel if needed.

Working hours are typically Monday to Friday, from approximately 09:00 to 16:00.
