Teaching Personnel are looking to recruit as Residential Support Worker to work in a residential home for children aged 8-18 in Skelmersdale. Children who stay at the home require short/medium or long term care away from their family environment and may have a range of learning, emotional, behavioural and social needs; young people may have also had a history of going missing from home, being vulnerable in relation to sexual exploitation or influenced by alcohol and/or illegal substances.

The independent specialist school provides a high standard of education and care for students aged 8–19 years old, offering 52-week residential provision for boys and girls with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder and other related conditions.

The home offers young people, who are often in crisis, a family environment where they can settle, relax and bring allow for some stability in their lives.

To be successful at this role you must provide an emotionally secure, consistent, warm, supportive and caring environment for the young people and to encourage their social, physical, emotional, intellectual and moral development so that they may realise their own potential.

General duties include:

  • provide one-to-one advice or group support sessions
  • teach daily living skills like budgeting, shopping and claiming benefits
  • provide leisure and creative activities in a safe and supportive setting
  • help residents to deal with problems and become independent
  • talk with residents' families and arrange family and home visits

Hours are dependent on availability.

Pay for this role will not be less than £12.90 per hour. Depending on experience.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
