Role Overview:

As a Maths Intervention Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in providing targeted support and intervention to students who require additional assistance in mathematics. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Assessment and Analysis: Conducting assessments to identify students' mathematical strengths and weaknesses, analysing data to pinpoint specific areas of improvement, and developing personalised intervention plans to address learning gaps.

  2. One-to-One Support: Delivering one-to-one or small group interventions to students, using a variety of teaching strategies and resources to reinforce key mathematical concepts, improve problem-solving skills, and boost confidence.

  3. Progress Monitoring: Tracking and monitoring the progress of students receiving intervention, regularly assessing their understanding and attainment levels, and adjusting intervention strategies as needed to ensure maximum impact.

  4. Collaboration: Working closely with Maths teachers, the SENCO, and other school staff to coordinate intervention efforts, share insights and observations, and contribute to the overall improvement of mathematics attainment across the school.

  5. Data Management: Maintaining accurate records of intervention sessions, student progress, and assessment results, and providing regular updates to relevant stakeholders to inform decision-making and target-setting.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Mathematics or a related field, with a strong academic background and a thorough understanding of key mathematical concepts and principles.
  • Previous experience working as a Maths tutor, intervention specialist, or classroom teacher, preferably within a secondary school setting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and motivate them to achieve their full potential in mathematics.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to analyse data effectively to inform intervention planning and evaluate its impact on student outcomes.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work collaboratively with colleagues and respond to the diverse needs of students, prioritising their academic progress and well-being.
