About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and skilled Design & Technology Technician to join a thriving, mainstream secondary school in Accrington from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual to play a key role in supporting a dynamic DT department and inspiring the next generation of designers, engineers, and creators.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, maintain, and organise materials and equipment for practical lessons across Design & Technology subjects (e.g., resistant materials, engineering, product design, or food technology depending on specialism)
  • Support teaching staff during lessons, ensuring a safe and effective learning environment
  • Maintain workshop tools, machinery, and equipment in line with health and safety regulations
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with ordering supplies
  • Ensure compliance with COSHH and health & safety standards
  • Assist with displays, project preparation, and general departmental organisation

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • Experience working in a workshop, technical, or school environment (desirable but not essential)
  • Strong practical skills and knowledge of tools, machinery, or materials used in DT
  • A good understanding of health and safety procedures
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • A flexible and positive approach to supporting staff and students
